Precious Stones and Metals, assembled as bracelets, necklaces and charms.
A bracelet that fits well sits comfortably, doesn’t slide over your hand, and lets beads and charms move freely. Here’s how to measure your wrist at home and what to add for different bracelet styles.
A soft measuring tape is easiest. No tape? Use a strip of paper or a piece of string and a ruler.
Your wrist measurement isn’t your bracelet size. Add ease based on how you like bracelets to fit:
Chunky beads take up space on the inside of the bracelet, so for big beads, lean toward the larger end of the range. Charm bracelets usually look best with a little extra room so charms can hang.
Stretch bracelets need to roll over your hand, but they should rest without staying stretched on your wrist. If a stretch bracelet leaves a mark, it’s too small and the cord will wear faster.
Clasp bracelets don’t need to fit over your hand, so you can choose a closer fit. An extender chain gives you some flexibility.
If you own a bracelet that fits perfectly, lay it flat and measure the inside from end to end (for clasp styles, include the clasp). That number is your ideal bracelet length.
Average adult wrists measure roughly 6 to 7 inches. If you can’t measure, borrow a bracelet the person already wears and measure it, or choose a clasp bracelet with an extender.
